Apple’s original iPod, the iPod classic, could soon boast an even bigger hard drive. Currently, the iPod classic features a 160GB HDD – more than any other device in the iPod range offers. However, a new 1.8-inch Toshiba hard drive could increase the iPod classic’s capacity to a humongous 220GB.

Apple is already using the 160GB version of this HDD in its iPod classic. The availability of a 220GB hints at the possible expansion of Apple’s keynote, classic iPod.

If any change is made to the iPod classic, you can bet it’ll be unveiled in September, at Apple’s annual special event. Personally, I think there’s only one way Apple can go with its iPod classic, and that is increasing its HDD – the MP3 player’s most important aspect.
