For a while now, Apple fans have expected the iPad 3 to pack a super-HD Retina display, potentially with a resolution of 2048×1536. Now, MacRumors – another Apple news website – claims to have in its possession an iPad 3 display, and after conducting a series of tests, notes that the resolution of the third generation iPad’s screen is indeed 2048×1536. The screen is the same size as those of its predecessors – 9.7 inches – but packs a much higher resolution, exactly twice that of the previous iPad tablet.

Apple is expected to announced the iPad 3 at a special event in March. We’ll keep you posted on all the iPad 3 rumors that hit the Web in the meantime, so be sure to check back with us.
